Press Complaint

Upheld: Adjudication - A woman v The Sun

This is an example of an upheld complaint against theSun, The Sun has published an article on 'The Woman's' Brother whom of which was convicted of a high profile murder and detailed her with her full name. She claimed the sun had breached Clause 9, the Adjudication found that the Sun had broken Clause 9 which states that "relatives or friends of persons convicted or accused of crime should not generally be identified without their consent, unless they are genuinely relevant to the story"

Not Upheld: Gary & Danielle Lineker v The Sun

This complaint was from Gary & Danielle Lineker against the Sun that they had harassed and breached privacy. The article was all around Gary Lineker leaving Twitter and the paper suspected it was due to other allegations made and wanted to follow it up. They made contact with Gary, his agent and family but it was not upheld as they did not break privacy and only contacted each individual once therefore it was not classed as harassment and was not upheld.
